Shaping my health: Could what your are in taking help with Autoimmune diseases?

As a person who is seeking healthy alternatives to medicine and just dealing with pain and symptoms I have come across a lot of interesting information involving your Gut and Autoimmune diseases. I looked up a list of Autoimmune diseases and found a pretty comprehensive one from the AARDA you can check that list here but it includes the more common ones like MS, and Chron’s, and Lupus but did you know that Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Celiac disease, Narcolepsy, Rheumatoid arthritis, and Type 1 diabetes are also considered Autoimmune diseases as well? The list is much greater than what I mentioned and you should check it out if you are curious if you or a loved one has an autoimmune disease.

Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans have an Autoimmune disease? And 75% of those affected are women?  That is a staggering number and quite scary as a woman especially.

 What causes autoimmunity?

The immune system normally can distinguish “self” from “non-self.” Some lymphocytes are capable of reacting against self, resulting in an autoimmune reaction. Ordinarily these lymphocytes are suppressed. Autoimmunity occurs naturally in everyone to some degree; and in most people, it does not result in diseases. Autoimmune diseases occur when there is some interruption of the usual control process, allowing lymphocytes to avoid suppression, or when there is an alteration in some body tissue so that it is no longer recognized as “self” and is thus attacked. The exact mechanisms causing these changes are not completely understood; but bacteria, viruses, toxins, and some drugs may play a role in triggering an autoimmune process in someone who already has a genetic (inherited) predisposition to develop such a disorder. It is theorized that the inflammation initiated by these agents, toxic or infectious, somehow provokes in the body a “sensitization” (autoimmune reaction) in the involved tissues. (see the AARDA for this quote and more info)

What you eat and drink could greatly affect your body and inflammation and help your system deal with Autoimmune diseases. More than 80% of your immune system lies in your Gut. If you have an Autoimmune disease than you most likely have a leaky gut.  Here is a great article about Leaky Gut and how it allows food particles to flow in your blood stream and forces your body to attack itself.

We all have good and bad bacteria in our digestive system. When your gut flora is in balance the bad bacteria pose no threat. But when the bad bacteria outweighs the good, irritation and inflammation occur, again, causing the pores of the intestine to open up. ~ Leaky Gut Article

If you are looking for a good Probiotic to help With friendly bacteria and rid yourself of the bad bacteria, I suggest Pro Bio 5 which I have personally used and I love it. You can check out more info by clicking on the link but here is part of what the Pro Bio 5 can do for you.

ProBio5 Friendly Flora In addition to enzymes, ProBio5 contains very beneficial “friendly bacteria” that assists in supporting the body’s need for a balance of probiotics (microflora) in the digestive tract. This “friendly bacteria” is delivered in a micro-encapsulation system to ensure that they reach their intended destination in the digestive tract to help rebuild the damage done by the yeast and fungi overgrowth. – See more at: http://bethanybrewster.myplexusproducts.com/products/probio5#sthash.b592vpRU.dpuf

Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Here is a short list of breakfast ideas to help you shape your body and budget.

Chocolate Banana Peanut butter Smoothie:
One Frozen Banana
1 cup of milk
1-2 tbsp of peanut butter
1-2 tsp of Chocolate syrup

Mix well in a blender. Feel free to adjust the portions and substitute the milk for almond milk or whatever is your choice of milk.

One egg with veggies (spinach, zucchini, mushroom, or anything really)
Protein with veggies is a great way to start your day. If I am adding zucchini or onion or something that takes a while to cook I get that started and work on other things like tidying the kitchen. Then cook the eggs.

Oatmeal with fruit and honey
Oatmeal is a great money saver and is awesome for filling hungry tummies. I cook up quick oats and add in whatever fruits are in season and on sale. Strawberries, blueberries, apple, banana, and peach are all great fruits to add in. I then add in honey and maybe a little milk.

Bake a loaf of banana bread, zucchini bread, or something similar
Try and use healthy ingredients substituting wheat flour, apple sauce and bananas for other ingredients such as white flour, oil and even sugar.
One slice is enough and if it does not feel that way add peanut butter to help fill you.

No matter what you chose moderation is huge for your body and budget.

MTurk making money on the side

Making money on MTurk? Yes if you know what MTurk is than you might be wondering how on earth it am actually making money on there. Well honestly it’s not a ton right now but considering I am still learning the ropes and getting my qualifications up I am impressed with what I have so far.

What is MTurk?
MTurk : Mechanical Turk is a market place for work. It is run by Amazon and it allows businesses and developers to have a scale able workforce on demand.

HIT: Human Intelligence Task- These are the things the humans work on… Things computers can not do. Isn’t it nice to know we can still do something’s better than a computer 😉

If you are interested in working part time or full time. From the comfort of your home, local coffee bar, or really anywhere you could travel to that has internet access than you should look into this.
As I say this I almost cringe knowing that some may get on there and see the really cheap HITS and try a few an think there is no was I can do this. Yes there as some HITS that are a ripoff you just really have to test the waters and see what you like. My goal most of the time is to make at least .10 a minute. While that is not amazing it is something I can do from home In between homeschooling and caring for my three kids.
Last week I made $50 and this week about $30. I have not had as much time to devote to it as I started my college classes back up. Yes I am crazy and I not only homeschool my 3 kids but I am also a full time college student. So I say if I can do it most people can.
If you are looking to get started (or restarted) try out some of my favorite HITS:
KB: these are color matching ones. While it does not pay my normal .10 a minute I can do a lot of these super fast and it is great to get the numbers in so I can get better HITS later.
Tagasaurus: verify or correct image orientation – once again this is not a huge money maker but I dot think I have ever had one rejected and when there are no surveys it is another way I help boost my numbers.
Andy K: this one you will have to qualify for and there isn’t HITS available all the time but it is better money and once again great for the numbers.
After that it is mainly surveys. I try to catch 5-10 minute surveys that pay .50 to 1.00 or more. Once again this is not going to make you rich.
I know these numbers are kinda discouraging for some but trust me when I say there are a select few who can make $30-100 a day on there. It is all up to leaning the system and putting in the time and effort to get better an be consistent.
If you have a chance check out MTurk to help earn a little money on the side. Just imagine what $30 a week could help you do for Christmas or buying a new car! It is a great start 🙂
